The Okryu Restaurant is on the bank of the picturesque Taedong River in the capital Pyongyang. The buildings with hip-saddle roofs of Korean style are in organic harmony, forming a gigantic architectural group retaining the national tradition. The Okryu Restaurant consists of the main building, two annexes and the Food Restaurant. Its service capacity is great. The restaurant has different sizes of banquet halls and tens of dining halls and can serve more than 2,000 people at a time. Workteam Head Ri Mun Thae says: "Our restaurant has constantly strengthened its material foundation and developed science and technology for tens of years. We have established an integrated business management system and put the business and service activities on a high digital and IT basis. We have also introduced and applied many equipment and programs for more efficient, prompt and correct service." The Okryu Restaurant has hundreds of cooks including over 20 Merited Cooks and one hundred and tens of excellent cooks. What is most popular is the famous Pyongyang Cold Noodle. The Pyongyang Cold Noodle is a peculiar national food with all the elements in good harmony, such as the thickness and toughness of the noodle strips, the taste and
colour of broth, the aroma and relish of seasonings, the shape and decoration of garnish, and the utensils. The Food Restaurant serves terrapin, sturgeon and other famous dishes. It draws a lot of people every day. The Okryu Restaurant frequented by all people is a pride of Pyongyang.
