Efforts are made in Korea to use solar energy in production, business activities and life.

Solar panel, solar water heater and different kinds of solar energy facilities are widely used in many units and households across the country including Pyongyang.

Some units use electricity generated by solar energy in business activities and put waste electricity into the state power system.

Many units in the agricultural sector newly established the farm products drying process by solar heat, thus shortening the drying time by one third than natural drying and saving electricity and fuel.

Many units in the rural areas solve the problem of cooking fuel by introducing solar heat converging device which automatically control its direction towards the sun.

The Natural Energy Institute and the Solar Heating Equipment Distributing Agency under the State Academy of Sciences are developing new technology and products using the solar energy to introduce them into many units across the country.
