Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology and other universities set high goals for bringing about a turn in education to carry out the tasks advanced by the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Those goals have been definitely directed to developing the universities into research-oriented ones by closely combining education, scientific research and production.
New courses have been established, departments turned into research institutes and laboratories, educational programme improved, educational contents put on a practical, comprehensive and modern basis, and excellent teaching and merit-assessing methods actively invented and introduced.
The work for completing the educational contents of tens of subjects on the level of prestige universities has reached the final stage, and other works are powerfully promoted to further improve the qualifications and abilities of educators and firmly prepare the students as developer- and creator-type and practician-type talented personnel.
New research institutes and study rooms have been established, laboratories turned into open-type ones in conformity with the trend of development of modern education and the practical requirements, and new teaching methods created.
The universities are also working hard to conclude the scientific research projects for normalized production and technical remodelling in different fields of the national economy.
Teachers training universities and colleges are putting spurs to attaining the goals for improving the educational programme and firmly preparing the teachers in line with the formulation of the second programme of the universal 12-year compulsory education.
