Several years have passed since Ryom Hye Ryon returned home in Wasan-dong, Sosong District, Pyongyang, as a special-class disabled soldier.
During her military service, she accidentally got injured after saving the lives of the people; she was diagnosed with vertebral fracture. Seeing her, who had been optimistic and cheerful, others felt sorry for her.
All those, who had come to be acquainted with her, including doctors of the central and district hospitals, officials of the district and dong and members of her neighbourhood unit, devoted their sincerity for her recovery.
On the day when she was to undergo operation, unknown students and other young people came to the hospital and asked the doctors to transplant their bones to her, and young school girls used to visit her and read novels beside her when she was hospitalized.
She felt the warm feeling of her kith and kin from the kind people including doctors, who were making sincere efforts to treat her day and night, and the cooks, who tried their best to provide her with food suited to her appetite. Thanks to their devotion, she recovered her health.
Looking through TV and newspapers, persons with disabilities, who were working and living cheerfully like able-bodied persons, she wanted to do something for society and her collective and made a firm determination to do so.
Then one evening, a teacher of Pyongyang Jang Chol Gu University of Commerce and his wife, her neighbour, visited her to congratulate her on her birthday.
Listening to the girl’s wish, the educationist couple told her: You can also become a talent needed by the country if you learn at university; we will help you, so study with confidence.
So she became a student of the distance education faculty of Pyongyang Jang Chol Gu University of Commerce. With the help of her teachers and friends, she finished the course with excellent marks. Later, she married with a presentable and passionate young man amid the blessing of all people, and gave a birth to a cute baby.
“We are living in a society full of virtue and affection. We will work hard for the benevolent socialist country.” This reflects the mind of her, as well as her family members.
