The number of gun-related death in the United States hit an all-time record in 2021.
According to the U.S. Gun Violence Archive, the gun-related death broke the record last year reaching 44,750 in total. Among them, 20,660 were killed by crimes and 24,090 by committing suicide. And the number of the injured reached 40,359.
It said that 1,046 children aged under 12 fell victim to shooting sprees which far surpass 999 of the previous year going on the highest record since 2014. Among them, 308 were killed and 738 were injured.
The number of the victims of the minors in the age group of 12 and 17 reached 4,552. This also broke the previous year’s record (4,142). As for the super-large gun-related crime which claimed 4 lives at least one time, it took place as many as 691 times.
More than 800 people were gunned down in Chicago, Illinois last year marking it the most violent year in 25 years. The number of the dead reached 400 in 15 years in Los Angeles, California. And the gun-related violent culture in the American society is becoming an incurable chronic disease with the previously-held murder record being renewed in 9 major cities.
The gun-related crime, a record of which is renewed on a daily basis, is an inevitable outcome born of the corrupt social system.
In the U.S., possession of gun is legalized and its procedure is becoming much more simplified, and it has become a social trend for the citizens to purchase weapons on a competitive basis.
According to the data published by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), 17 million stands of guns were sold on a nationwide scale from January to November, 2021, the second largest sale since 2000. It is none other than the U.S. where the citizens are judged as the most well-armed ones in the world as one third of adults has possessed a gun.
The bloody shooting incidents take place everywhere just at a peace time, not a war time. Because of this, funeral music is being played regardless of the time. This music will continue to sound its curse on the American society.
