The work to consolidate the self-supporting character of the metallurgical industry is in full swing in order to implement the important tasks set forth at the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex is accelerating the work to carry out the phased plans for its capacity expansion by completing a new energy-saving oxygen-blast furnace, while solving urgent problems arising in the modernization of production lines and building up their capacities based on advanced technologies.
The Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex is making vigorous efforts to further improve the Juche-oriented iron- and steel-making technologies, radically enhance the quality of metallic materials and increase the actual output under the conditions of making use of the same raw materials. It is also promoting different technical renovations for reducing production cost and improving the quality of steel according to the schedule.
The Chollima Steel Complex, in close cooperation with scientific research institutions, is boldly carrying on the undertakings to solve sci-tech problems arising in maintaining and reinforcing the overall processes, and normalize rolled steel production on a high level.
The Musan Mining Complex and other iron mines, Puryong Ferroalloy Factory, Hungnam Electrode Factory and other supply units are directing efforts to the work of building up their own foundations and revitalizing production.
