The respected Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, gave field guidance to the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground.

He was accompanied by leading officials in the field of munitions industry and defence science research and officials concerned of the National Aerospace Development Administration.

Looking round different places of the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground, he presented a goal of rebuilding it on a modern basis and indicated specific orientation and ways to attain it.

He understood and estimated the present state of the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground and put forward tasks to rebuild it on a modern and expansion basis and build a number of new elements in the launching ground so as to launch the military reconnaissance satellite and other multi-purpose satellites by diverse carrier rockets in the future.

He also gave tasks to rebuild the district of the launching ground and the establishments for the general assembly and interlocking test of rockets and for the interlocking test of satellites on an expansion basis so as to launch large carrier rockets, build another fuel-injecting facilities and supplying systems and rebuild the elements of the launch controlling facilities and major technical posts on a modern and expansion basis.

He gave concrete instructions on rebuilding the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground on a modern and expansion basis including the issue on expanding the capacity of the motor static firing test site and taking measures to provide convenient transport of the carrier rockets and the issue on changing the ecological surroundings around the launching ground and building a new open-air place for watching the launch in the safety area on the ridge opposite the launching ground.

He said the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground is associated with the desire for a powerful country of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who gave the dream of space power, and continued:

It is the significant place where our state successfully launched two artificial earth satellites with its own efforts and technology, true to the intention of the great leaders in their lifetime. It is a noble duty of the space scientists and technicians of our Party and era to wonderfully change the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground with the great dream and ambition of our state for a space power buried like seeds into an outpost and starting line of space conquest according to the dignity of the Republic, looking far ahead into the future.
