Story Permeated in the Site of Volunteers Army Command

During the last Fatherland Liberation War, President Kim Il Sung always paid special attention to the works and life of officers and soldiers of the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army, leaving numerous heartwarming stories.

Among them is the story of pouring his heart and soul into selecting the site of Volunteers Army Command in a safe place.

Early one morning in September 1951 when the dark clouds of war were gathering, President Kim Il Sung visited Songhung mine located in the South Phyongan Province.

He even suspended his rest and visited this place in the early dawn. That was just to select the site of the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army Command in a safer place.

After arrival at the mine, President Kim Il Sung , looking around the lay of surrounding land at a dim distance, was satisfied and said to the entourage as follows: this place is the same as a natural fortress in wartime as there are lots of pits where ore was produced in high mountains and valleys, and if the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army Command is located here, it will be near to Supreme Command and be advantageous to exercise command over the whole fronts.

President Kim Il Sung was such a man who cared about safety of officers and soldiers of the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army all the time from the first day when they entered the Korean front.

In October 1950, President Kim Il Sung went first to a mine in North Phyongan Province where the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army Command was going to be located, and selected its site. In January1951, he personally visited the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army Command which had moved to Kunja-ri in South Phyongan Province and showed brotherly affection by feeling concern about the health of the commanding officials.

All sites of the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army Command were the places that took an important share in wartime production as they were important mine fields where nonferrous minerals including gold, a precious asset of the country were dug out.

However, President Kim Il Sung , regarding sons and daughters of the Chinese people as his own flesh and blood, saw to it that valuable areas of the country be unhesitatingly given to commanding officials of the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army for their safety during grim wartime when there is a need for the state funds to be raised by digging even one gram of gold.

Thanks to the special attention and love of President Kim Il Sung , brave men of the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army smashed the US imperialists, sharing the sweets and bitters of life with our Army and people in the same trench, shoulder to shoulder with them. In this process, a great number of Heroes of the Republic including Huang Ji Guang, Qiu Shao Yun and Yang Gen Si, and other well-known and unsung people who performed feats in the war could be produced.

Indeed, warm comradeship of President Kim Il Sung became the spiritual source that made the armies and peoples of the DPRK and the PRC emerge victorious in the struggle against the common enemy.
