The inaugural ceremony of the Pothong Riverside Terraced Houses District was held and ordinary working people moved into new houses in April in celebration of the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung .
The district was built in the place where there had been President Kim Il Sung ’s official residence.
When the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the place on the Pothong riverside on March 25 last year, he expressed his noble intention to build modern houses in the historic place, saying that the Party Central Committee should take charge of the project and push forward the construction and he intended to provide them as gifts to the working people including labour innovators, persons of distinguished services in all fields, scientists, educators and writers who devote themselves to the Party and the state.
Later, he personally organized all the work including the selection of its building area, formation of building forces, design and construction and supply of materials and gave meticulous guidance on every detail of its layout such as the distribution of buildings and diversification of their shapes.
In a little over a month he saw over 240 drawings to point to the need to show the features as luxury houses and visited the construction site several times showing close concern with every element in the living rooms, resting place, walkway and landscaping.
He also named the district Kyongru-dong, meaning a beautiful gem terrace.
When he visited the splendidly-built Pothong Riverside Terraced Houses District on April 2, he said that no families were evacuated from the area except the President’s residence and it means he built luxury houses in his house site and handed them over to his children.
That day, he looked round the district and interior of the houses with parental care for a long time and was very pleased that he could provide dream houses again to the working people.
The Pothong Riverside Houses District is a proud creation of the new era which epitomizes the people-first principle of the Workers’ Party of Korea whose long-cherished desire is to provide the people with superb welfare and the development strategy of Juche-oriented architecture.
