The General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) was organized on May 25, Juche 44 (1955). The formation of Chongryon was a historic event declaring to the whole world the birth of the Juche-oriented overseas compatriots’ movement and bringing about a radical turn in carving out the destiny of the compatriots in Japan.

President Kim Il Sung set forth a policy that the compatriots in Japan, though they live in an alien land, should struggle for the country and nation while strengthening international relations with the democratic forces in Japan, and that they should thoroughly maintain the Juche-oriented standpoint in all aspects and wage the patriotic undertakings for national reunification and prosperity and development. And he devoted his all to the strengthening and development of the movement of Koreans in Japan at each period and stage of the development of the revolution.

Chairman Kim Jong Il wisely led the movement indicated by the President to advance vigorously along the road of Juche and love for the country and nation.

Today, the Juche-oriented ideology and exploits of the President and the Chairman in overseas compatriots’ movement are being brilliantly carried on by the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .

He sent congratulation to the participants in the meeting of the officials of the chapters of Chongryon in July 2012, and a congratulatory message to the 23rd Congress of Chongryon, thus wisely leading it to add lustre to the honour of a model organization of the Juche-oriented overseas compatriots’ movement.

And he also sent the letter Let Us Usher in a New Golden Age of the Movement of Koreans in Japan True to the Intention of the Great Comrade Kim Jong Il to Chongryon and Korean residents in Japan on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Chongryon’s founding. The letter is a comprehensive library of the Juche-oriented ideology and theory of overseas compatriots’ movement of the President and the Chairman, and the crystallization of Kim Jong Un ’s noble love of the compatriots and nation.

Kim Jong Un embraces Chongryon and compatriots in Japan more warmly and takes care of them sincerely.

He called the delegations of the organization to the country when there were conspicuous events, and let them take rostrum of major ceremonies.

He took a special photo session with members of the delegation of the educational officials of Chongryon who participated in the 14th National Conference of Teachers and appreciated their labour merits highly.

Thanks to his noble outlook on the rising generations, the history of educational aid fund and stipends to Chongryon for the democratic national education of the children of compatriots in Japan goes on invariably. In April this year, Kim Jong Un sent educational aid fund and stipends amounting to 251.18 million yen in Japanese currency to Chongryon in the run-up to the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung .

He saw to it that the legal guarantee for safeguarding and ensuring the rights and interests of overseas compatriots were provided, and takes responsibility of their destiny and future.

Now Chongryon officials and compatriots in Japan keep in their mind more deeply the truth that socialist Korea is the embrace they should live in and demonstrate actively throughout the world the might of Chongryon as a model of overseas compatriots’ movement by waging the patriotic movement dynamically while hoisting their national flag higher over the sky of the alien land.
