On May 8 the state emergency epidemic prevention command and relevant units deliberated over the results of strict gene arrangement analysis of the analytes collected from persons with fever of an organization in the capital and concluded that it coincided with o mutated virus BA.2, which has recently spread worldwide rapidly.

Thus a breakthrough was made on the emergency epidemic prevention front in the country, which had been firmly defended for two years and three months from February 2020, causing the most serious epidemic situation for the first time since the founding of the DPRK.

To cope with the prevailing epidemic crisis facing the county, the Eighth Meeting of the Political Bureau of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, on May 12, adopted a decision on switching the state emergency epidemic prevention effort to the top-level emergency system.

And a meeting and a consultative meeting of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee and a meeting of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee were held in succession.

Just after winding up the meeting of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the state emergency epidemic prevention headquarters. It is the most important challenge and supreme task facing our Party to reverse the present public health crisis at an early date, restore stability in epidemic prevention and protect the health and safety of our people, he said, clarifying the plans and bright ideas for winning great victory in the anti-epidemic campaign.

On May 14, he convened a consultative meeting of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee, taking political and practical measures to rapidly contain and control the nationwide spread of the disease so as to firmly hold the strategic initiative. While presiding over the meeting he said that he was donating reserve medicines prepared by his family to the Party committee of the WPK Central Committee with his resolution to always share his destiny with the people and with a fervent prayer that peace and laughter would settle again in all families across the country at an early date, suggesting to the Party committee that they send the medicines to a family in difficulty.

The consultative meeting of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee convened the following day issued a specific order of the WPK Central Military Commission for immediately stabilizing the supply of medicines in Pyongyang Municipality by committing the powerful forces of the military medical field of the People’s Army. According to the order, relevant work was done promptly to mobilize reserve medical supplies which had been stored up by the Party and the government for an emergency until now. And powerful forces of medical field of the People’s Army were committed urgently, and waged a campaign to supply medicines.

That day Kim Jong Un looked around the pharmacies in Pyongyang till late at night and took instant emergency measures.

The medicines prepared by his family and other hundreds of kinds of medicines prepared by the families of the officials of the Party Central Committee were handed over to the people in South Hwanghae Province.

This has become a national trait.

Medicines, foodstuffs and daily necessities prepared by officials in Pyongyang and local areas and Party organizations at all levels were handed over to isolated wards and families. And the number of medical workers and volunteers, who are looking after patients all night for several days, has increased.

All working people are voluntarily observing the top-level epidemic prevention measures while ensuring unity of thinking and action, and rapid mobile epidemic prevention teams and rapid consultative diagnosing teams have been organized to take proactive measures to quickly and correctly deal with urgent matters.

The Party Central Committee met for five times to protect the people’s lives in the grave situation.

The each day of ten-day anti-epidemic war since transition into top-level epidemic prevention system has proved clearly the WPK’s noble outlook on the people, which goes closer to them and makes selfless, devoted efforts for them the harder the times are.
