In recent years, the Hungphan Cooperative Farm in Sijung County, Jagang Province, has produced high yield in farming. In the past it had been behind other farms in the county’s records of grain production.
It was true that there were some reasons owing to regional characteristics as the farm is located in the mountainous region, but the key reason was that it failed to introduce high-yield seeds actively and make the most of farmland.
Now the farm overcame the old method of farming and actively introduced good strains of seeds while paying close attention to ensuring the growing period of crops.
It made an experimental plot to meet the mountainous region, and established a scientific method of cultivation which can ensure the growing period of crops through scores of experiments such as the time and amount of sowing, and setting the appropriate time of rice-transplantation.
This made a breakthrough in increasing per-hectare yield of paddy rice. In the course of finding out a method using even a phyong of farmland effectively, the farm found out a rational method conducive to cultivating two crops in one plot and fully providing the growing conditions of crops. It organized a technical course to have the method prove successfully and urged its farmers to keep technical requirements.
Thanks to the introduction of advanced and scientific farming method and the painstaking efforts of all agricultural workers of the farm, it has overfulfilled its grain production plan since several years ago.
