One spring day in Juche 36 (1947), President Kim Il Sung visited a salt works on the coast of Kwangryang Bay.
He exchanged greetings with the employees of the works and had a talk with them.
And he took an oak rake from a worker, and walked into a crystallization pond to experience their job.
He gave important instructions on the road the salt works should follow and on taking good care of the employees in and out of work.
Some time later when he was about to leave, an old man approached him. He had greeted national liberation on August 15, 1945 after working in the salt farm like a slave under Japanese imperialist rule.
He made a deep bow to the national leader, and said, “I have missed you day and night, General. Now that I have met the king of the country, I have nothing to regret even if I may die now.”
Kim Il Sung helped him stand up and replied: Don’t say that thing; there is no king in the liberated Korea; and now the workers and peasants are the masters of the country.
