It was the faith and will of the great leader Kim Il Sung that the historic cause of national liberation could be accomplished through all-people resistance by vigorously arousing the entire Korean nation to the anti-Japanese struggle.
Clearly indicating the path of the Korean revolution in his early years, Kim Il Sung underlined the need to firmly rally all the anti-Japanese patriotic forces. On May 5, Juche 25(1936) he proclaimed the founding of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland, a permanent anti-Japanese national united front organization.
The "Ten-Point Programme of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland" which called for achieving national liberation through general mobilization of the Korean nation was virtually tantamount to a declaration of all-people resistance.
The Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland showed the truth that no aggressors can match the strength of the people who turned out in union with arms in their hands. So its flames flared up throughout the country as fierce flames of the all-people resistance arousing the entire Korean nation.
In the 1940s, Kim Il Sung saw that the preparations for all-people resistance were completed with the approach of the last decisive battle for national liberation.
As a result, many civilian armed organizations for all-people resistance were formed, including the Fatherland Liberation Corps organized in Pyongyang, the Kim Il Sung Corps which was organized in Seoul and expanded as far as Japan and the Paektusan Society.
According to the order of general offensive for the operation of national liberation issued by Kim Il Sung on August 9, Juche 34(1945), the civilian armed organizations across the country joined the advance of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, destroying the ruling machinery of the enemy.
The Japanese imperialists could not but declare an unconditional surrender on August 15.
The liberation of Korea was a brilliant victory of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle waged under the leadership of Kim Il Sung and at the same time, a fruition of the nationwide heroic resistance made by the broad anti-Japanese patriotic forces at all costs.
