Inevitable Result to the Ignorant of Diplomatic Courtesy

Date: 08/08/2022 | Source: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EN) | Read original version at source

Some time ago, at a confirmation hearing in the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Nicaragua said that for the democratic changes to take place in Nicaragua, the U.S. and the West should isolate the present Sandinist dictatorial regime through economic sanctions and diplomatic pressure.

Such provocative remarks of interference uttered by a so-called ambassador clearly showed once again before the world the meanness of the American-style diplomacy devoid of regard for time and circumstances both in words and deeds, not to mention international law and diplomatic practices.

Regarding this, Nicaraguan foreign minister promptly wrote a letter to the U.S. Secretary of State. In his letter, he condemned the newly appointed Ambassador for violating the UN Charter and principles of Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (VCDR). In the meantime, the Nicaraguan government took a decisive countermeasure of revoking the agrément that had already been granted to him.

It could be seen as a due retaliation by the Nicaraguan government and people that are enraged at the flagrant U.S. interference.

In the face of the unjust sanctions and ever-worsening interference of the U.S. into the internal affairs, the Nicaraguan government and people declared withdrawal from the Americas, the U.S.-led organization. And now they are endeavoring to achieve independence in politics and independent development of the economy, for example, through expanding external relations with anti-U.S. independent countries including Cuba and Venezuela.

The world progressive people aspiring after independence against imperialism are extending full support to and solidarity with the Nicaraguan people in their struggle to oppose high-handedness, arbitrariness and domination of the U.S. and to establish international justice and equality.

Nicaraguan people will surely emerge victorious in the cause of safeguarding dignity and achieving independent development of the country.
