It happened one July day in Juche 36 (1947) when the first triplets of the country were born in the then Sungho, Kangdong County, South Phyongan Province after Korea’s liberation (August 15, 1945).
Receiving the report, President Kim Il Sung said that it was a good omen for the prosperity of the country that the triplets were born and it would be a good thing if they grew up well and become pillars of the country.
He told an official concerned to take urgent measures to raise the triplets well and look after their mother’s health, urging him to send a doctor and a nurse to them to take responsible care of their health.
Still worried about their health, he asked him to learn about the living conditions and house of the family where the triplets were born, take relevant measures and tend the triplets’ mother well. And then he took steps to send nutrients, clothes and quilts needed for bringing up the children.
He also noted that if triplets would be [Would be]born in the future, the country should be responsible for them and their mothers and take special care of them.
Today, the country presents newly-born female triplets with gold rings and male ones with ornamental silver daggers and provides them with clothes, quilts and dairy products for one year free of charge. It also pays families of triplets subsidies for their upbringing until they reach school age and puts medical workers in charge of the children and their mothers to look after them.
