The Korean people are now vigorously stepping up the general advance to carry out important tasks set forth at the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

At the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un stressed the need to open up a new phase of vigorous state development by taking the current harsh and difficult period unprecedented in the history as an opportunity of getting stronger and more tested and displaying the strong will and strenuous spirit of exertion and to do our best to make every work for this year correctly executed at the scheduled development speed.

This incorporates the will of the Party Central Committee to reverse the current severe situation into a good opportunity of bolstering our own strength and internal driving force and make an evident stride in the year 2022, an important stage in implementing the five-year plan of development and change.

Cherishing deep in their minds once again the greatness of the WPK which dynamically leads the Korean revolution along the road of victory without the slightest vacillation and a moment’s stagnation despite the unprecedented national crisis, the Korean people are concentrating all their efforts on implementing to the letter the tasks put forward at the above-said plenary meeting.

All the economic sectors and units are striving to bring about practical changes and substantial advance in economic construction and the improvement of the people’s living standards by fulfilling the national economic plan for this year without any reservation.

The metallurgical, chemical, electric power and coal industries and other key industry sectors are pushing ahead with boosting the current production and technical upgrading of production processes and equipment by dint of self-reliance and by relying on science and technology.

The plenary meeting set farming and consumer goods production as the most urgent economic tasks for this year.

The agricultural sector is making full advance preparations for protecting crops from natural disasters to the maximum, putting manuring and cultivation of crops on a scientific basis and making thorough preparations for harvesting.

The light industry sector is turning out large quantities of quality consumer goods, which are favoured and welcomed by people by tapping every possible internal reserve and possibility. Amid the brisk activities for holding Pyongyang municipal consumer goods show and other daily necessities and consumer goods exhibitions in provinces one after another, quality and production competitions go full steam ahead between production businesses and between producers.

The construction sector is dynamically promoting the work to complete without fail the scheduled important construction projects in succession, including the recent inauguration of Orangchon Power Station Unit 3.
