The Korean people greeted the national liberation in August Juche 34 (1945). The enthusiasm of workers and farmers to build a new country grew stronger day by day.
Everyone was full of desire for a new life.
However, the reactionaries set afloat false rumours in an attempt to sow discord among the people full of enthusiasm for nation-building. They enticed even young students to cause a disturbance.
Upon hearing the news, President Kim Il Sung went to a public playground crowded with students one day in December Juche 34 (1945). The officials accompanying him dissuaded him from going there for the sake of his safety.
When students recognized Kim Il Sung , they were very surprised and excited.
Kim Il Sung took the platform in the eyes full of trust and expectation and said in the following vein: The road we follow is neither the US type of “democracy” nor the Soviet style of democracy. It does not belong to the category of a capitalist democracy. It is a new type of democracy, a Korean-style democracy for the interests of the Korean people. Everyone who loves the country, the nation and democracy should devote his or her strength and talents to the drive to build a new democratic country.
His speech which clarified with simplicity the essence of a new system to be established in the country stirred up the hearts of all students.
The playground overflowed with excitement, and the cheers of “Long live General Kim Il Sung !” burst out.
His speech united the minds of the oppressed people and inspired them to turn out in the drive to build a new democratic country.
It was, indeed, very influential.
