Kimhwa County Paper Mill in Kangwon Province produces tens of kinds of paper goods, including writing paper, wrapping paper and toilet roll, by means of a multi-purpose paper-making machine.
The whole process of the mill consists of an optimized closed production system as suited to the specific conditions of local area. It makes it possible to protect environment and lower production cost markedly as it reuses water from production.
According to Ri Yong Il, chief of the Paper Engineering Institute under the State Academy of Sciences, who led its updating, the production line of the mill saves 40% of energy in total, 70% of water, 30% of production area and 20% of labour as compared to those of a chemical paper production line. Its products are low in cost and environment-friendly as they do not use caustic soda and other chemicals.
It also established a line of making pulp from fallen leaves and agarophyte to produce wrapping paper and various paper-moulded goods. It makes it possible to save timber of over a cubic metre per one ton of goods.
The interest in its optimized production line grows stronger among people.
Many units are making vigorous efforts to establish an energy-, labour- and land-saving and technology-intensive production line, learning from its experience.
