Othan Kindergarten in Central District of Pyongyang is well known for having trained a large number of children talented in dancing and playing national musical instruments over the past ten years.
This is attributable to the painstaking efforts of the teachers at this kindergarten who devote their all to children.
They select children with outstanding talents in a strict manner.
They make much effort to find out who are endowed with aptitude for music talents and what are their aptitudes if they have any and what kinds of musical instruments are appropriate for them.
Then, while teaching them, they carefully watch the psychological and emotional state of the children to find out who have great power for analyzing natural phenomena, try to express figuratively what they have seen, heard and felt and who have artistic sense and whether they sing correctly as required by the features of given songs. In this way, they intensify education as suited to their aptitudes and talents.
While striving to develop educational methods as suited to the aptitudes and tastes of children, they hold teaching contests and department seminars on a regular basis. Various creative methods and opinions made in the contests and seminars make a great contribution to the intellectual development and art education of children.
In the course of this, the kindergarten has produced many model teachers and children with excellent musical skills.
Cha Yong A, 5, is well known across the country for her wonderful singing at a national contest of kindergarteners with amazing talents and many other children have been highly appreciated for playing the piano, violin and other musical instruments dexterously.
At the national art festival of kindergarteners held this year, five-year-old Kim Yu Jin trained by teacher Won Un Hye took the first place again in trick event.
The children’s bright and cheerful laughter is resounding far and wide in the kindergarten, the cradle of happiness where children bring their buds of talents into full bloom.
