In Songhwa Street newly built in the capital city of Pyongyang last year, there is an eye-catching building.
It is the 80-storeyed skyscraper symbolic of the street.
People marvelled at the sight of the 70-storeyed skyscraper in Ryomyong Street, saying that it is the highest building in the country.
And 5 years later, the 80-storeyed skyscraper was built in Songhwa Street.
Here is a touching story about it.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un gave an instruction to build an 80-storeyed building in the area of 10 000 flats in the capital city of Pyongyang. He asked officials to learn about the geological conditions of the area and erect an 80-storeyed building, which was 20 storeys higher than the one symbolic of 10 000 flats in the original design.
True to his noble intention, service personnel of the Korean People’s Army successfully completed the project by making devoted, self-sacrificing efforts.
It was indeed a challenging task for them.
The project embracing the building of about 900 flats in a total floor space of over 160 000 square metres was a duel between will and a race against time to surmount numerous difficulties in the face of scorching weather in summer. They had to conduct the building of such frameworks as the excavation of over 102 000 cubic metres of earth and concrete tamping of over 34 000 cubic metres for its foundations.
It was also a struggle against the worst conditions of nature.
Because of a long spell of rainy weather, the ground was so sodden that they could not make effective use of machines. On top of that, spring water gushed out. But they remained unperturbed even in the face of such difficulties.
Their goal was to dig the ground until they found the natural bedrock.
The soldier-builders dug into the ground metre by metre.
When they finally found it out, the old men indigenous to the Songhwa area were so amazed that they said as follows: We’ve never known that there would be such a natural bedrock under the ground on which we have lived for decades. The soldier-builders made us estimate the weight of this building in which our people would enjoy a happy life.
The 80-storeyed skyscraper is another monument which tells the loving care of Kim Jong Un for the people to provide them with the highest civilization and happiest life.
On this skyscraper, we realize the civilization and happiness our people enjoy thanks to the loving care of Kim Jong Un , envisaging our rosier future, too.
