Personally Planting Trees

Date: 14/03/2023 | Source: Naenara (En) | Read original version at source

There are two pine-nut trees personally planted by young Kim Jong Il at the Jangjasan Revolutionary Site in Kanggye City, Jagang Province,

He planted them with a far-reaching plan and out of warm patriotism to turn the mountains and fields of the country burnt by the enemy bombing green while staying there in October Juche 39 (1950) when the Fatherland Liberation War was at its height.

It was his idea that if the US imperialists burnt down one tree, the Koreans should plant ten, even a hundred, trees to make their country greener and when they grow in thick verdure the country will be the best place to live in the world.

These two pine-nut trees have grown into giant trees bearing many fruits every year and their seeds have spread across the country, creating thick forests in all parts of the country.

In March Juche 46 (1957), Kim Jong Il climbed up Mt Jang in the capital city of Pyongyang and painfully looked at the mountain without decent trees burnt by the bombing of the US imperialists. He called on all young people to be models in tree planting, stressing the need to plant many treee on Mt Jang.

Kim Jong Il told the students, who were going to draw out a young pine tree rooted at the spot of acacia, that the seed of this tree would be sowed and root during the war and that they should treasure the tree that rooted and grew despite the flames of war. He continued to say that it would grow into a giant tree in the near future, though it was a young pine tree, correcting their wrong thoughts. Then he tenderly planted many trees with the students.

The trees he planted on Mt Jang have now formed a thick forest.

The trees he planted sometimes with soldiers and sometimes with students throughout his revolutionary leadership are growing thicker telling his noble patriotism with which he would plant more trees for the future of the country.
