A regular meeting of the National Non-Permanent Space Science and Technology Committee took place at Kim Il Sung University on March 23.
Pak Thae Song, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea who is chairman of the National Non-Permanent Space Science and Technology Committee, presided over the meeting.
It was attended by members of the committee and relevant officials of the National Aerospace Development Administration, the State Commission of Science and Technology, the Education Commission, the State Academy of Sciences, universities and scientific research institutes.
It reviewed the state of implementation of research projects of universities and scientific research institutes in last year and the first quarter of 2023 and assignments given to the members, and had an in-depth discussion of successes and deviations in the work and the ways for rectifying them.
It also gave the members of the committee assignments for the second quarter of this year.
Being aware of the significance and importance of attaining the phased goals of space development in dynamically promoting the comprehensive development of socialist construction, it stressed the need for them to fulfil this year’s research projects in time and unconditionally and direct efforts to space science and technology research projects related to the study of core technologies for artificial earth satellite development in particular, and agricultural production, meteorological observation, resources prospecting, monitoring of disasters from typhoon, flood and tidal wave, and development of the Korean-style communications system.
The regular meeting of the committee was organized by a state measure to bring about a radical turn in space development by involving more actively relevant universities and scientific research institutes in society in the research work of space science and technology. It is held once a quarter.
