Afforestation is active in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to turn the whole country into green woods.
A lot of units are producing saplings needed for afforestation.
Among them is the Rangnang District Forestry Management Station in the capital city of Pyongyang.
Senior engineer Kim Kang Chol at the Rangnang District Forestry Management Station says:
"One of the important issues in the sapling production this year is to increase the variety of saplings. While producing saplings of major species needed for the afforestation such as the Changsong larch, the Kumya black pine and pine-nut tree, we have expanded a greater number of varieties of saplings necessary for the green landscape of streets and villages including the weeping pagoda tree, red-leaf barberry and purple-leaf plum."
The station has laid full material and technical foundations of its tree nursery to produce saplings in all seasons and is growing saplings of good species.
At present, tens of thousand saplings of over 10 species are growing at the tree nursery of the station.
The employees of the station are manuring and cultivating saplings in a scientific way in close contact with scientists of the Academy of Forest Science. They put great efforts into raising the rooting rate of saplings by applying different kinds of nutritive liquid such as fermented solution to them.
They learn science and technology on a regular basis to have a good understanding of the technical demand for manuring and cultivating saplings and cultivate healthy saplings.
During the spring tree planting, in particular, they shovel and wrap saplings according to regulations to raise the rooting rate of the planted trees.
Kim Un Sim says:
"We don't regard saplings merely as plants. Of course, plant cannot speak. But it is part of my body with its viability, I think. That's why we devote all our sincerity even to a sapling."
The employees of the station are devoting all their efforts to the sapling production, picturing to themselves the green forests to be more exuberant.
