Pongnam tailor’s shop in Phyongchon District, Pyongyang, is famous for producing fresh and unique women’s dress designs and clothes.
A spring overcoat for women made in the shop was awarded the first prize in the Women’s Clothes Show-2022.
Its chief Kim Sung Hui designed it and made it with narrow and long collars and fan-shaped bottom, as suited to the tastes and aesthetic feelings of middle-aged women.
Such overcoats steal the public limelight for their natural and refined beauty, though they have simple styles with no special decorations. Most of clothes tailored by her are long and slender.
While studying data on the current dress designs in the Sci-Tech Complex, she widely introduced the achievements made in the garment sector into reality.
She also broadened the horizon of her knowledge while attending various industrial design exhibitions held every year. In the course of this, she created a new tailoring method.
The method was introduced into tailor’s shops across the country as it made it possible to make clothes as suited to customers’ tastes and likings.
Her women’s clothes designed to meet seasonal changes were highly appreciated in the Korean costume show of the seasonal dress sector, an annual event, since Juche 101 (2012).
After participating in the Spring Women’s Clothes Show-2023, she said: Many units displayed clothes of peculiar styles that suit women’s tastes, hobbies and constitution and add more to their beauty. This shows that we can meet the level of ever-developing civilization of our people only when we steadily conceive and produce fresh things without resting on our laurels.
