A few days ago, an Iranian news agency reported that the U.S. had conducted a “research” on children putting them as guinea pigs. It went on.
John Watson, a psychologist, who had worked as an editor for a prominent American science magazine, began his research in 1903 on instinctive reaction to the surrounding environment.
John Watson, with a 12-year study career in Johns Hopkins University, used a mouse as a guinea pig, but later he decided to use a man as a guinea pig.
In 1916, he brought a 9-month-old child from an orphanage and carried out an experiment on him.
At first, he showed him a white mouse, a white rabbit, white cotton and white mustache one by one but the child did not show any reaction.
Afterwards, he got down to changing the white mouse into a “fearful object.”
He put the mouse in front of the child and repeated a fearful sound behind his back when the child tried to get it in his hand.
The frightened child began to cry and fell into convulsion. Since then, the child showed the same reaction every time he saw an object with white hair.
In 1920, he “proudly” announced his findings with a video where a child had been used as a guinea pig for the first time in history, only to prompt a global condemnation.
However, it was revealed later that Watson conducted another similar experiment using 2-year-old child as a guinea pig under the patronage and assistance from the U.S. government.
