Kaesong City has been renowned for many historical remains and relics of national value and insam (ginseng).
These days, it has become famous across the country for planting many kiwi fruit trees.
The trees can be seen not only in Kaesong Botanical Garden, Kaesong Koryo Insam Processing Factory, Songdo Garment Factory and other industrial establishments in the city but in farms and house gardens.
True to the policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea on afforesting and landscaping the whole country and turning it into orchards, the city has made efforts to proliferate the trees, with the result that it has become commonplace for the locals to plant and tend them.
The trees bring into beautiful and fragrant white flowers late in spring, adding more to the landscape, and provide shades in summer and bear fruits in autumn.
The Kaesong Koryo Insam Processing Factory harvests large amounts of kiwi fruits every year and supplies them to its employees.
The locals who planted the trees in their gardens do bee-farming as well during the blossom season.
The tree with high medicinal effect is good for creating green landscape.
