Among the world-famous women table tennis players of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is Kim Jong who was awarded the Best ITTF Woman Table Tennis Player in 2013. She won gold medals in the mixed doubles of the 52nd World Table Tennis Championships held in 2013 and in the mixed doubles of the table tennis event of the 17th Asian Games in 2014.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un met Kim Jong on October 28, Juche 103(2014).
That day, he watched women's football match together with Pyongyang citizens at the remodelled May Day Stadium. All of a sudden, he called an official, asked him if Kim Jong came, saying he had failed to meet her previously, and told him to bring her immediately if she was back home.
10 days before, Kim Jong Un had met the players and coaches who won gold medals at the 17th Asian Games and world championships.
At that time, he asked why Kim Jong was not present there.
An official told him that she was abroad for an international game.
Kim Jong Un highly appreciated that Kim Hyok Bong and Kim Jong had played games to the last in the mixed doubles of the table tennis event of the 17th Asian Games and felt terribly sorry for Kim Jong's absence. And he said he would make time to see her in the future.
He called Kim Jong to his side, keeping his promise.
Looking at her with an air of satisfaction, he said: She won another gold medal in the mixed doubles of the table tennis event of the 17th Asian Games in the wake of the mixed doubles of the 52nd World Table Tennis Championships, adding brilliance to the honour of the country. She is really praiseworthy. I believe that she would train harder in the future and thus continue to make good successes in the international games.
And then, he proposed having a photo taken with her by his side.
Kim Jong felt a lump in her throat.
Kim Jong Un highly praised the sportspeople who fly the national flag by winning international games, saying they are genuine patriots, heroes and smarts.
This is how Kim Jong has been remembered by the Korean people as a woman table tennis player blessed by the leader.
