A military delegation of the Russian Federation headed by Minister of Defence Sergei Shoigu arrived in Pyongyang by air on the 25th to pay a congratulatory visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
The delegation was met by leading officers of the Ministry of National Defence including Kang Sun Nam, Minister of National Defence of the DPRK, Jong Kyong Thaek, Director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army, Pak Su Il, Chief of the General Staff of the KPA, Vice-Foreign Minister Im Chon Il and officers and men of the KPA.
The delegation was greeted by Alexander Matsegora, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the DPRK, and staff members of his embassy.
A ceremony of welcoming the military delegation of the Russian Federation was held.
Sergei Shoigu, guided by Kang Sun Nam, reviewed the guards of honour of the KPA.
