Inequality Veiled in “Prosperity” and “Welfare”

Social inequality is an inevitable outcome of the capitalist society which is chronic and can’t be reduced.

On November 14, a French charity released an annual report to the effect that the crisis of living cost in its country has accelerated the “poverty of women” and that women and children are the main victims of poverty worsened due to price hikes, childcare, gender inequality and so on.

The report said that a lot of women are refusing to take the meal and submitting to other severe mental and physical pain to eke out their living and bring up children. Due to the family breakdown and continuous gender inequality in the labor market, poverty rate of women reached 57.5% last year. This is a substantial increase from 52% in 2012.

Women are entitled to social care and protection and children are the future of the country. But they are in the grip of deep uneasiness and pains as they fall victim to economic crisis and inequality. This is the reality of the capitalist countries.

No matter how the Western mouthpieces try to embellish capitalism by employing such florid words as “prosperity”, “welfare” and “human rights”, its true colors can never be covered up.

The capitalist society fails to ensure that women and children are provided with their rights to existence and equality, to say nothing of fundamental rights of a social human being including rights to development, dignity and honor. Such a society is tantamount to a living hell.
