American-style double standards can never work in outer space: KCNA commentary

The Korean Central News Agency released a commentary under the title "American-Style Double Standards Can Never Work in the Outer Space as Well".

The commentary reads.

The United States is still hell-bent on the hostile moves against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea concerning our reconnaissance satellite "Malligyong--1" that started its official mission. World media and experts affirmatively say that the DPRK's demonstration of its reconnoitering skill is by no means negative to the region in the long run and that Pyongyang's possession of a reconnaissance satellite can make the situation of the Korean peninsula more stable.

Nevertheless, the United States branded the DPRK's exercise of a legitimate independent right as a "grave threat to the security of the region and the world" and brought it to the United Nations to end in a failure and suffer a terrible disgrace before the world. Not drawing a lesson therefrom, the United States is actively justifying the south Korean puppets' launch of a spy satellite through its carrier rocket, absurdly saying that it is "different in its character in the aspect of observing international law".

The south Korean puppets themselves are extensively advertising that their building of a spy satellite network with the help of their master is for offence, i.e. for increasing the ability to monitor our strategic objects and mounting a preemptive attack in case of emergency. It is preposterous to talk about the so-called legality of the spy satellite launch with clear military and aggressive purpose aiming at the DPRK and its neighbouring powers.

In view of the Outer Space Treaty which stipulates the space development and use as universal rights of the UN member states, it is clear that there can never be a space for the brigandish American-style double standards negating and wresting others' rights in the vast and boundless cosmos. It is our firm resolve to put a larger number of diverse reconnaissance satellites on orbits in the near future, gather the information on all sorts of military moves against the DPRK in major regions of operational interest including the Korean peninsula and the Pacific, and assume more thorough and effective deterrence posture.

Our reconnaissance satellites including "Malligyong--1" will fully provide valuable real-time information on the anti-DPRK military moves of the hostile forces and perfectly play a role of guide to our most powerful strike if necessary, the commentary stressed.
