On New Year’s Day in 2024, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace to enjoy the new year performance given by schoolchildren.
Some children ran towards him and hung on his arms. He embraced them and asked each of them their ages, showing paternal affection.
At the circular dance hall he watched children singing and dancing full of joy for a while and waved his hand to those who were presenting their own artistic skills. And he also saw science fiction models and artworks created by schoolchildren. He then heard about the merits of exemplary Korean Children’s Union members who are knowledgeable, virtuous and physically strong and blessed their rosy future, expressing great satisfaction with the fact that they are good at work and KCU activities and have done many good jobs.
Enjoying the New Year performance, he was the first to applaud at the turn of each programme and, when the performance was over, he came onto the stage to highly appreciate their performance. At the moment all the children thronged around him, saying in tears “We missed you a lot, Marshal!” It was a heartwarming moment that witnessed an outburst of affection between father and children.
After a while, Kim Jong Un had a photo taken with the participants in the performance.
Son Ye Jong, chairwoman of the Phungyang Senior Middle School Committee of the Korean Children’s Union in Kim Jong Suk County, Ryanggang Province, said that the respected fatherly Marshal waited as long as dozens of minutes for over 1 000 participants to take their seat for the photo, adding that it was the happiest New Year’s Day she had ever enjoyed with her greatest desire fulfilled.
