Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Strongly Denounces U.S. Senior Official’s Interfering Acts

The assistant secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the U.S. Department of State recently met the anti-China Hong Kong rebels who fled the country, and uploaded an article on the SNS saying that he was honored to meet the promoters of Hong Kong’s democracy and human rights. The spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry expressed strong dissatisfaction and opposition to this.
He said that the U.S. support for the anti-China Hong Kong rebels is not only an outrageous violation of the spirit of the rule of law but also another betrayal of its consistent double standards in the issues of human rights and the rule of law, and continued as follows:
The issue of Hong Kong strictly belongs to internal affairs of China and therefore interference by any foreign forces will not be tolerated.
We strongly demand that the U.S. reflect on itself, respect the sovereignty of China and the rule of law in Hong Kong, and also refrain from becoming a safe haven for the criminals.
Finally, he said that China remains steadfast in its determination to defend the sovereignty, security, and development interests of the state, and stressed that any plot to interfere in the issue of Hong Kong and undermine its rule of law will meet with stiff opposition from China.
