Jong Kwang, head of the neurosurgery department of Kim Man Yu Hospital, is a competent medical worker who has treated many critical cases for the past decades.
After graduating from Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences 20-odd years ago, he was appointed a neurosurgeon of the hospital. In the course of tireless thinking and inquiry he developed a Korean-style therapy, thus making a positive contribution to restoring many patients.
Im Yong Bok, 57, living in Songyo-dong No. 1, Songyo District in the capital city of Pyongyang, was hospitalized in January last year with cerebral contusion and had his brain operated by Jong. He said he has felt no other symptoms and his thinking ability is normal.
Jong has also developed and introduced 10-odd cutting-edge surgical methods including cranioplasty by using 3D printing technology which makes it possible to completely treat the hematoma caused by caput trauma.
Over the years, the department has applied his new therapies, restoring patients who had been diagnosed as disabled and hopeless.
He is still devoting himself to research and medical treatment to put the neurosurgical techniques onto the world’s advanced level.
