The Komdok area in South Hamgyong Province is a leading large-scale mineral production base in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Wonderful dwelling houses are built in the area one after another under the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.
The Korean people call the area a gorge town and a mining city.
In September Juche 109(2020), the Komdok area suffered a severe damage due to typhoon No. 9. Thousands of dwelling houses and dozens of public buildings were destroyed or inundated and 60,000-metre-long roads washed out.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un called the Sixth Enlarged Meeting of the Seventh Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea on September 8 that year and entrusted the People's Army with the rehabilitation and construction of the Komdok area.
And he visited the far-off and dangerous Komdok area in mid-October.
He looked round the sites of damage rehabilitation and mapped out a bold plan to build 25,000 flats, stressing the need to provide the people in the Komdok area with modern houses as early as possible so that they could lead a more civilized life.
He said to officials that he would bear the responsibility for the project and, together with the People's Army, turn the villages in the Komdok area into a mining city not to be found in the world and into a gorge town unprecedented in history to be envied by all people, and gave important instructions on the direction of the construction of the area.
Afterwards, he set forth concrete tasks and ways to successfully promote the housing construction in the Komdok area at the historic Eighth Congress of the WPK and plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee.
As a result, the housing construction in the Komdok area has been accelerated on a full scale since its start in 2021.
The Komdok area changing wonderfully day by day is another precious fruition of Kim Jong Un's great love for the people.
