A meeting was held at the People's Palace of Culture on the 25th to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the Architects Union of Korea.
Present at the meeting were Vice-Premier of the Cabinet Pak Hun, Minister of State Construction Control Ri Sun Chol, Minister of Land and Environment Protection Kim Kyong Jun, Minister of Urban Management Im Kyong Jae, General Director of the State General Bureau of Design Kang Kwon Il, members of the Central Committee of the Architects Union of Korea and unionists in Pyongyang City, officials concerned and officials of the construction sector and relevant units.
Sim Yong Hak, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Architects Union of Korea, made a report. He said:
The great leader Kim Il Sung founded the Architects Union of Korea on March 26, Juche 43(1954), clarified the important guidelines to be permanently held fast to in the field of construction and guided the work of the union step by step.
The great leader Kim Jong Il formulated the essence, mission and characteristics of Juche-oriented architecture in his famous work "On Architecture" and gave perfect answers to the theoretical and practical issues arising in the creation of modern architecture.
The new century of the Juche era is the exciting years of making epochal changes in the construction, racing against time under the outstanding and seasoned leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, a genius of creation and construction.
The reporter called for defending and adding eternal brilliance to the undying revolutionary exploits performed by Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un for the development of Juche-oriented architecture and bringing about constant upsurge in the architectural creation for the prosperity and development of the country and promotion of the people's well-being.
