Talks were held in Hanoi on the 25th between Kim Song Nam, Alternate Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Director of the International Department of the Party Central Committee, on a visit to Viet Nam at the head of the delegation of the WPK, and Le Hoai Trung, Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and Chairman of the External Affairs Commission of the Party Central Committee.
Kim Song Nam referred to the line and policy of the WPK on the struggle against the United States and the enemy and stressed the need to further consolidate and develop the friendly and cooperative relations by fully implementing the historic agreement between the leaders of the two parties.
Le Hoai Trung said the relations between the two parties and two countries are firmly based on the socialist idea, and expressed the unshakable stand of the Communist Party, government and people of Viet Nam to develop the traditional Viet Nam-DPRK friendly relations.
At the talks, both sides discussed the issues for expanding and strengthening political ties between the two parties and two countries, revitalizing cooperation in different fields and closely supporting and solidarizing on the international arena to put the bilateral relations on a new high level, and reached a consensus of views.
Present at the talks from the Korean side were members of the delegation of the WPK and the charge d'affaires ad interim of the DPRK in Viet Nam and from the opposite side, the Vice-Chairman and other officials of the External Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
That day, the delegation of the WPK was invited to the welcome reception given by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
