A symposium for improving the accuracy of forecast of tsunami on the East Sea of Korea was held on the 26th and the 27th under the sponsorship of the Korean Oceanography Society of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.
The symposium held under the theme of "Improvement of Accuracy of Tsunami Forecast" was aimed at finding out realistic and rational ways to make a correct prediction of tsunami on the East Sea of Korea and ensure prompt and accurate information of it.
It was attended by scientists, technicians and teachers of different units including Kim Il Sung University, the State Hydro-Meteorological Administration, the Hydraulic Engineering Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences and the Pyongyang Hydro-Meteorological College.
At the symposium, valuable proposals were made public, which were made by scientists and technicians in the course of their researches. There were also a profound question-and-answer session and discussions.
During the period, a multimedia program was watched, which dealt with the danger of tsunami and ways to get rid of it.
