Choe Ryong Hae, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and First Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made a field survey of the Mangyongdae Vegetable Farm in Mangyongdae District.
Looking round different places of the farm, he encouraged the officials and working people who are devoting themselves to carrying out the immediate farming operations and called for taking foresighted practical measures to increase the grain production.
He learned in detail about the growth of winter wheat and barley and the attainment of the goal for mechanization, and underscored the need to put efforts into the manuring and cultivation of the crops and steadily increase the proportion of the farm work done by machines.
At the construction site of a rice seedling cultivation greenhouse, he said it is necessary to carry out building work qualitatively as demanded by the design and actively promote the work to put the rice seedling production on a scientific basis in close contact with the units concerned.
That day, Choe Ryong Hae acquainted himself with the production at the tree nursery of the Mangyongdae District Forestry Management Station and stressed that the officials of the government organs should display a high sense of responsibility and play an active role in creating the forests in the regions concerned on a long-term basis.
