Camping of schoolchildren has started at the Songdowon International Children’s Camp on the occasion of the April holiday, one of the most auspicious events of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
Present at a ceremony held on April 15 were Paek Song Guk, chief secretary of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Ju Mun Jin, chairperson of the Kangwon Provincial People’s Committee, officials concerned, officials and teaching staff of the camp, and campers.
The participants laid a flower basket before the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il at the camp and made a deep bow to them.
The sound of a bugle signalled the start of camping and the camping flag was hoisted amid the playing of the song “March of the Children’s Union.”
A reporter and speakers at the ceremony called upon all the schoolchildren to train their bodies and minds, consolidate their knowledge learnt at schools and prepare themselves to be competent talents capable of shouldering the future of the country through the camping activities.
