This is part of feedback from the schoolchildren who enjoyed the winter camping at the Songdowon International Children’s Camp early in January.
The start of winter camping for schoolchildren in the country is associated with the meticulous guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .
In February Juche 103 (2014), Kim Jong Un visited the Songdowon International Children’s Camp under renovation.
While going round the camp, he said to the officials that winter camping would be possible if they took measures for heating the buildings of the camp.
From olden times, Songdowon, for its beautiful scenery in harmony with the blue water of the East Sea of Korea and white sandy beach, old pine groves and sweet red briers in full bloom, has been well known for sea bathing.
So, the camp had organized summer camping alone with the main stress on sea bathing and, during winter, made preparations for next year’s camping.
Stressing the need for the camp to organize winter camping so that schoolchildren go skiing at the Masikryong Ski Resort, Kim Jong Un said that it would give birth to a new camping system in the country.
Then, he gave detailed instructions, ranging from the issue of designing a building for winter camping to the issues of operating an indoor wading pool, keeping padded clothes in the hall and disseminating common knowledge of skiing.
He also specified such issues as installation of the latest cine projector and sound facilities to be provided to the camp, various an amusement arcade and other cultural and amusement facilities, LCD TVs and fridges to be installed in each room, various articles for cultural life and coaches to be used by campers for their round-trip to the Masikryong Ski Resort.
Besides, he took a measure to open a through train service to the camp and set up a railway station exclusive for schoolchildren in Pyongyang and other parts of the country and foreign children to travel to and from the camp even in winter.
Accordingly, the camp has organized the winter camping on a regular basis since 2014.
