The Munsu Ponghwa Garment Factory is saving a lot of electricity thanks to the ongoing technical innovation campaign.
In the past, the factory adopted resistance heating to produce steam needed for garment production, which caused waste power consumption, long steam generation, and damage to heating elements by overheating—to the detriment of production.
To overcome such setbacks, it applied advanced technologies to identify the main factors affecting the performance of boiler, particularly the material, size, gap of electrodes and water amount.
On this basis, it has introduced a power-efficient electrode mini-boiler with a simple structure and high energy utilization rate.
As a result, power consumption has dropped by more than 30 percent as compared with the previous one.
The factory has also developed and introduced a no-load breaking and protecting device for sewing machine motors, saving a lot of electricity in the sewing process and cutting the costs.
Senior engineer Kim Sol Yong said that they would continue to apply more technical innovation ideas conducive to lowering the costs.
