The agricultural sci-tech service program “Hwanggum Yolmae” (Golden Fruit) developed by the agricultural informatization institute under the Academy of Agricultural Science is being introduced to the rural areas across the country with its functions steadily updated.
Over the past few years, researchers of the institute have worked hard to update the program by putting together feedback from agricultural workers while touring farms around the country.
In the course of this, they added such functions for a user to have access to not only central forecast data on crop growth but forecast data in a relevant area on the basis of his/her local information, directly select and ask any expert from any field, and make an easy and quick inquiry.
They also enable the user to connect various measuring devices to a smart phone to measure water and soil temperature, and water volume flowing through waterways, and count grains for measuring 1 000-grain weight.
Steps are taken for officials of all agricultural guidance organs, farm management personnel and junior officials across the country to get access to the updated program. The number of its users has increased dozens of times as compared with that in the early period of its development.
The number of visitors continues to increase, and their questions amount to well over a hundred a day.
It is expected that the number will keep increasing along with the farming season.
In addition, the Academy of Agricultural Science is promoting at the final stage the project to ensure that the software proves effective in reality.
