Working people in different parts of the country have completed most of the projects for building and repairing irrigation channels and groundwater facilities planned for this year.
The Kaechon-Lake Thaesong irrigation waterway and the Phyongnam irrigation waterway have undergone an overhaul on a full scale.
The builders stepped up the projects by ensuring a full operation of pumps, mixers and other equipment and introducing effective technical innovation ideas, including a new method of reducing the formwork assembly time, thus successfully finishing the repair work planned to be done by this spring.
Nampho City has wrapped up the project of laying inverted siphons for the Ryonggang main waterway No. 4.
It has also dredged more than 450 000㎥ of earth in a 30-odd-km-long waterway section to finish earlier the project for expanding the capacity of the West Sea Barrage-South Phyongan Provincial inland waterway.
South Hwanghae Province has pushed ahead with the project for supplying freshwater from Lake Kangryong to the vast expanse of fields.
North Phyongan Province has put spurs to the project for extending the Woldo tideland waterway to fulfil the plan more than twice.
Groundwater facilities have been built or repaired in thousands of places across the country.
North Hwanghae and South Phyongan provinces have tapped all possible reserves and possibilities to build and repair groundwater facilities in a short span of time, laying a solid foundation for providing a substantial benefit to farming from this year.
South Hamgyong Province and other regions are also channeling strenuous efforts into similar projects.
