The “Typhon” system, capable of "Tomahawk" missile launch, has been delivered to the Philippines by the U.S. Army and taken part in a military drill there. A spokesperson for China’s Defense Ministry expressed strong denunciation against it as follows:
The U.S. deployment of land-based intermediate-range missiles in the Philippines is an act of seriously encroaching upon the strategic security of China, threatening security of the countries in the region and greatly disturbing the peace and stability of the region.
China has, on several occasions, made clear its strong opposition against this.
Again, we strongly urge the U.S. to squarely see the security concerns of the countries in the region and stop its dangerous moves aggravating the regional situation.
In conclusion, the spokesperson stressed that China will take resolute and strong measures to defend its security interests.
