One October day in Juche 39 (1950), when the Korean war provoked by the US was raging on, President Kim Il Sung went to a nearby riverside together with an aide.
The place was a few hours’ walk away from the front.
The President seated himself on a broad rock in the riverside and cast his line over the waters.
Deep in a thought, he said to himself that it would be needed to lure the enemy deep inside a trap and attack them from front and rear. At that moment the float was jerked into the water and the line got tight. He quickly yanked the rod, and told the aide he caught a big fish but it did not move as if trapped between rocks.
When the aide was about to step into the water, Kim Il Sung held him back and said that just as the US imperialists would be lured and killed deep inside our trap before long, the hooked fish would be pulled out at last.
After a while, the hooked big fish began to be slowly dragged out shaking itself violently. Kim Il Sung was so pleased that he told the aide to see it being pulled out.
Seeing the struggling fish, he went on: The US imperialists cannot escape the fate of this fish. Although they are pouncing on us out of utter miscalculation, they would be given a telling blow from us to be subject to international humiliation. In other words, the myth of their mightiness would be shattered to pieces on none other than our Korean front.
Three years later, the enemy sustained ignominious defeat by the Korean people and service personnel who turned out in hearty response to the operational plan of Kim Il Sung , and could not but come to the venue to sign the truce pact.
