The spontaneous gangrene department of the Sosong District Hospital in Pyongyang Municipality has made achievements in its work by introducing advanced therapies.
Its medical workers have successfully treated patients suffering from such obstinate diseases as arteriosclerosis obliterans.
O Man Su, a war veteran residing in Hungbu-dong, Moranbong District, Pyongyang, said he was seized with thrombus-induced arteriosclerosis obliterans several years ago, so it was hard for him to walk even a distance of over 30 metres. But after receiving treatment at the hospital, he is now able to walk a thousand metres quite easily.
The medical workers have recently developed a method of injecting medicine into the arteries and marrow cavity, which makes it possible to shorten the period of treatment and produce clear efficacy, and applied it into clinical practice.
It has been confirmed that the method improved peripheral blood circulation, and it also proved effective in treating patients who had an operation for leg amputation.
Department head So Jae Gyong said his colleagues would strive hard to produce more effective therapies so as to make a tangible contribution to promoting the people’s health and protecting their lives.
