With green foliage growing thick, citizens are frequenting the amusement park of the Rungna People’s Recreation Ground located on the picturesque Taedong River’s Rungna Islet.
According to a management official, almost every day numerous people from all walks of life including schoolchildren are visiting the amusement park equipped with modern facilities and service amenities.
Divided into two quarters, the amusement park includes 10-odd kinds of facilities, such as freefall tower, vertical chair swing and wind shear, as well as fun house, mirror house, maze, two electronic entertainment halls and 4D simulation cinema.
The most popular amusement is the rotational hawks. According to operator Kim Un Gyong, it gives riders the thrill of soaring into the sky, running one hundred times on a daily average, more than two hundred at the most.
The twist and bouncer hurls riders into the air like a coiled spring. The zodiac makes riders have the feeling of traveling across the space. All are beside themselves with excitement.
After riding the wind shear and the freefall tower, a girl student from Sariwon Teachers Training College who was on a tour of Pyongyang said she could hardly tell the earth from the heaven and it was a moment of surprise and excitement.
Visitors to the fun house said they did not realize the lapse of time while laughing heartily looking at different mirrors. Installed in the house are more than a dozen mirrors of different types—concave, convex, wavy and electronic—which make viewers’ images reflected in many funny forms.
The mirror house is also a crowd-puller. Consisting of various quarters, the house plunges visitors into a world of fascination and tension. An attendant says different devices are installed in every bend of the quarters and virtual reality techniques enable them to have an exotic experience.
Electronic entertainment halls are bustling with children who are lost in video games. A woman from Kaeson-dong, Moranbong District, Pyongyang, said she had a good time in the hall but she was more pleased to see children playing games.
A range of catering facilities serve fresh soda pop, fruit juice, bread, salad and other foods.
The night view of the park is more fascinating. Kaleidoscopic illuminations and delightful images of riders are all attractive and amusing.
