Three decades have passed since the demise of President Kim Il Sung (1912-1994), our people’s eternal president and the founding father of socialist Korea.

On this occasion, our people and the progressive people of the world are looking back on his glorious life and immortal feat with reverence.

The lifetime of President Kim Il Sung is the history of a legendary great man who saved and shaped the destiny of the motherland and the nation.

In the past, during the period of Japanese imperialists’ military occupation and colonial rule (1905-1945), he embarked on the road of revolution when he was at the tender age of 10 with a heroic resolve never to cross the River Amnok again before Korea won independence. In his 20s, he founded the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army(April 25, 1932) and waged an all-out war against the Japanese imperialists, and in his 30s, he accomplished the historic cause of the fatherland liberation(August 15, 1945).

In his 40s, he defended the fatherland (July 27, 1953) after having defeated the U.S. imperialists who had boasted of being the “strongest” in the world when it ignited the Korean War.

His feats of defeating two formidable imperialists do stand out in the world history of struggle against imperialism.

The whole life of President Kim Il Sung is also a great history of devotion in which he devoted his all to the building of a people-oriented country and socialist power.

After the liberation of the country, President Kim Il Sung battled through untrodden path to build a new society and led the anti-imperialist, anti-feudal democratic revolution, socialist revolution and the socialist construction of different stages to victory.

In this course, President Kim Il Sung gave his field guidance to more than 26,000 units of various sectors including politics, military, economy, and culture, etc. The total length of his field guidance is as long as 578,000km which is as good as orbiting around the Earth 14 and half times. During this period, he sacrificed the comfort of 2,530 Sundays, holidays and even his birthdays for prosperity of the fatherland and the happiness of the people.

Thanks to such devotion of President Kim Il Sung , our country achieved world-startling miracles one after another.

Within one year after the liberation, democratic reforms, including land reform, nationalization of major industries, and enactment of gender equality were enforced.

3-year war reduced everything to ashes. The U.S. politicians crowed that Korea would not be able to rise again even in 100 years’ time but our people finished the rehabilitation within a short span of less than 3 years.

Within 5 years of post-war period, the socialist system was established where all people lead equal and happy life.

Such a difficult and vast task as industrialization which took a full century or a few centuries in other countries, was completed in a short span of less than 14 years.

The whole life of President Kim Il Sung is also a glorious history which draws high praise of the world through his idea and theory and external activities.

Throughout his lifetime, he wrote more than 10,800 works, which became great ideological and moral assets to the struggle of progressive humankind for defending sovereignty, independence, justice and peace. 26.7 million copies of his works were published in 108 countries in 60-odd national languages.

During the period of leading the country and people for nearly half a century, he visited 87 countries in total for 685 days on 100 occasions, and its total length is 522,000km.

Numerous countries and international organizations awarded him more than 200 highest Orders and Medals and the titles of honorary citizens of 30-odd cities as well as the titles of professor emeritus and honorary doctorates in praise of his immortal exploits. International Kin Il Sung Prize was instituted and more than 480 streets, institutions and organizations in over 100 countries were named after him.

The number of gifts amounts up to 71,050 which he received from the party and state leaders, and from political, social and economic circles. More surprisingly, many countries presented more than 200 gifts to him even after his demise.

During his whole life, with full responsibility for the destiny of the country and the nation, he braved the bloody battles against the Japanese imperialists to regain the country and build an independent, self-reliant and self-defensive socialist power on this land, and achieved immortal exploits in realizing the global cause of independence by dint of Juche idea. For all his immortal exploits, the great President Kim Il Sung will live forever in the minds of world progressive humankind.
