The improvement of quality of consumer goods is a policy task to which the Workers’ Party of Korea attaches importance consistently and directs a great deal of energies.
After the Eighth Congress of the WPK alone, every Party meeting which was held to decide on the fighting policies for fresh advance and leap forward in socialist construction discussed the issues related to the people’s livelihood as their core contents and General Secretary Kim Jong Un repeatedly gave instructions to raise the quality of consumer goods at the meeting.
The quality of consumer goods is guaranteed by modern machinery.
With old and outdated machines and technologies it is unthinkable to continuously enhance the quality of products.
We have set the goal of modernizing production facilities in the direction of producing goods favoured by the people and products with world competitive edge and dynamically pushed ahead with work to equip all light-industry factories with latest facilities while giving primary attention to surveying their existing production facilities comprehensively and upgrading them.
At the same time, factories and enterprises promote cooperation with scientific research institutions to increase the proportion of home-made equipment and steadily update their production processes.
We have gained valuable experience as we built regional-industry factories in Kimhwa County and ensured they were operated by themselves on a trial basis. So if they pool wisdom and efforts with scientists and researchers, they can modernize their production facilities on a high level.
Many factories and enterprises in the light industry sector have set ambitious modernization goals and remodelled old and outdated production facilities and technical means in a modern style, bringing about radical improvement in the qualitative and quantitative growth of production of consumer goods. It is evidenced by the growing number of popular goods exhibited in several exhibitions of light-industry goods held this year.
We will continuously spur the modernization of equipment at factories and enterprises by relying on advanced science and technology to produce more popular goods favoured by the people and famous goods with world competitive edge.
